I have liked Eminem for a long time. A family member introduced me to him at a young age because she would listen to him. At my young age I just thought his music was funny. Now that I have gotten older and I understand his life story I understand why he writes the music that he does. He inspires me to never give up even when times get really rough just to continue with my dream. He never gave up and here he is today living his dream and being a better person because of overcoming so many opsticles.

Eminem has over come a lot. One thing that took him awhile to over come was his drug addiction. One of the ways he over came this addiction was announcing to the public that he is addicted to perscription pills, mostly Vicodine, Valium, and Ambien. He admitted to taking up to 20 pills or more a day. Elton John is who helped him over come this addiction. He went through rehab in 2005, but he almost died from a near-fatal overdose after an acquaintance gave him several unidentified blue pills. Later a doctor told him that those blue pills were actually methadone. Eminem went to Elton because he once had an addiction and he says that Elton understands the pressure. Marshall says that he no longer has time for drugs when he has a daughter who looks up to him and that he has to be responsible for her.

Marshall's success was becoming a well known and very talented rap artist. He grew up rapping and over time he has accomplished his dream. Most of his songs are actual things that have happened to him. He uses his songs to explain his emotions to the world about what he was been through. He isn't afraid to tell people how it is. He has inspired a lot of people. However people did not think that he would amount to anything.

Most of his work that I actually really like is his older music.
I do however like his newer song "Music Box". His song "Lose Yourself" is one of my top favorite songs, I could listen to it over and over. I enjoyed his movie "8 Mile," is one of my top favorite movies. I think that his music can branch out to a large variety of people. He has been through so much in his lifetime but he stuck true to his dream and he is making it.

Marshall Mathers Biography

Marshall was born on October 17th, 1972. He was born in Kansas City, Missori. His mother had him at 15 years old. His father left 6 months later never to return. Through his childhood he switched schools every 2-3 months. This made it difficult to even make friends, gradute, and to stay out of trouble. Marshall attended Lincoln High School in Warren from 1986-89. He has been a rap fan for most of his life. He began rapping at the early age of 4 years old. At the age of 14 he began to get very serious about his rapping, but it wasn't until he was 17 that he actually made a name for himself, becoming M&M and later respelling it Eminem. The nickname M & M came from his initialls M(arshall) M(athers). He was rejected by most common rappers because of his race. This caused his anger to grow that flows through his music still today. Marshall failed the 9th grade three times. He dropped out of school but does not consider himself stupid, but he doesn't think people should follow his example. He remarks that school just wasn't for him. He threw himself into radio shows and freestyle battles most of the time failing. But he pushed himself foward and finally made his first album titled "Infinite" and it sold less than a thousand copies. When Dr. Dre heard his first album he tracked down Marshall and the two of them instantly hit it off. They recorded 4 songs in the first 6 hours of working together.
